Resident Burned in House Fire

Kalamazoo, MI:  At approximately 9:50 p.m. on December 31, 2012, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to a fire in the 1000 block of Osborne Street.  Upon arrival, Public Safety Officers discovered a fire on the second floor of the residence.  A 41-year-old resident was asleep at the time of the fire and suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his body before he was able to escape from the house.  He was transported to Bronson Hospital by LIFE ambulance where he is listed in stable condition.


Public Safety Officers were able to make quick entry and extinguish the fire, but were on scene for approximately an hour conducting overhaul to ensure the fire was completely out.  The cause of the fire is unknown and is currently under investigation by the Kalamazoo Public Safety Fire Marshal Jim Williams.
